Ko Olina New Year’s Eve

Well, we had a very busy New Year’s Eve in 2011, as we produced the best fireworks show Hawaii has ever seen! The venue was Ko Olina Resort in Leeward Oahu, home of the JW Marriott Ihilani Resort and the new Disney Aulani Resort. The resort tasked us with covering their 4 spectacular lagoons with fireworks from end to end, so everyone from residents, visitors and the general public could enjoy a spectacular show, no matter where they were on the property. Now, this was no easy feat as the Lagoons are just under a mile apart! But our production team put together a fantastic display that was 15 straight minutes of awesomeness.

This year, the Kailua-Kona July 4th fireworks show was fired from one of our barges in Oneo Bay, fronting Alii drive in the heart of Kailua-Kona. Our accomplished tow captain, Jeff Leicher, was gracious enough to share this short video with us. It gives an unique perspective of what it’s like to be a part of the production. Thanks, Jeff!

Now that another fantastic Independence Day holiday is behind us, we can relax a little and enjoy ourselves before we get back to work on the next big production. In the meantime, let’s enjoy a few great photographs that the Oahu Photography Meetup Group captured of the July 3rd Aloha Tower Marketplace Fireworks Display.

The group set up camp across the way at Sand Island Beach Park and got a variety of excellent images. Thanks for sharing them!

The Royal Hawaiian Grand Opening

Current Affairs event planning has a great article regarding the Grand Re-Opening Gala Party for The Royal Hawaiian Hotel back in March. We at Hawaii Explosives & Pyrotechnics were honored to be a part of this prestigious event and it was a pleasure to work with Phillip Richardson, David Beahm and the staff at the resort.

Despite a bit of inclement weather, we managed to top off the evening with a high intensity fireworks display consisting of mostly pink shells. Moreover, the proceeds for this fabulous fundraiser went to The Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific, the preeminent rehabilitation hospital in Hawaii. You can find more images of the event here.

Friday Night Show

The Hilton Hawaiian Village’s regular Friday night event has undergone some major changes in the last couple of weeks. The new poolside show, The Rockin’ Hawaiian Rainbow Revue, is produced by Tihati Productions and features a polynesian revue as well as great music and of course the spectacular fireworks finale.

The new fireworks display is now 5 minutes in length and feature some new effects not seen in the show before.

We’re proud to be a part of this fantastic production, going on 17 years now. Come see us entertain thousands this Friday at 7:45 p.m.!
